Change Your Hostname Permanently Using Ubuntu 14.10

If you mistakenly named your computer something stupid when installing Ubuntu, and now want to change it without running the hostname command, simply run sudo nano /etc/hosts change 127.0.0.1 name of your computer to the name you want. Next run sudo nano /etc/hostname and change that to what you want. Once finished, reboot. Check your work. You should be good to go.

Hope this helps.
